In "Mencius", there is a considerable amount of space for the kings to ask Mencius for the way to govern the country, such as Lu Pinggong, Qi Xuanwang, Teng Wengong, etc. The first sentence of "Mencius" is "Mencius sees Liang Huiwang". There are even many face-to-face criticisms and slogans in the book, which are rare in The Analects.
This shows that Confucian School was more respected by the princes at the time, indicating that Confucius and Mencius have different personalities, but it also shows that Mencius has a stronger desire to promote his own political ideas. He has not given up until repeated failures and began to concentrate on teaching and educating people.
Confucius once stepped from the small bureaucrats to the important position of Lu State, so although he talked about benevolence and righteousness, he also talked about political affairs, but he was very temperate. He regarded himself as a courtier in front of the princes and traveled around the country to spread his thoughts.
However, unlike Mencius, he does not have a rich political experience like Confucius. Although he talks about politics, he treats himself as a teacher in front of the monarch. He also travels around the country, but he is more like to be an emperor to sell his ideas.

When writing "New Mencius", Fang Yun's attitude is different from writing "The New Analects of Confucius".

Fang Yun praised the political thoughts of Mencius.
